Sound familiar?

  • I know I should have a plan. I have never made the time.
  • There is a retirement account from an old job and I have no idea what it is doing.
  • If something happened to me, my family would not know where anything is.
  • Every time I ask about money, somebody tries to sell me something.

These are common worries, written here in plain words. They are not client statements. No client is quoted anywhere on this page.

It is not that you are bad with money

Most people meet a financial advisor while somebody is selling something. So they learn to brace. They nod, they say they will think it over, and another year goes by with the same question still sitting there.

The problem is not you. The problem is that nobody ever laid it out in plain English and let you ask the questions you were embarrassed to ask.

That is the part Walter does first.

Ask the question you have been sitting on

You do not need to know the right words for it. That is his job, not yours.

How a first conversation goes

  1. 1

You say what is on your mind

One message or one call. You do not need to gather documents or know any terms.

  2. 2

You sit down and talk it through

Walter asks questions and listens. You get a clear look at where you stand and what you actually want.

  3. 3

    You decide what happens next

Maybe that is a plan. Maybe it is one thing to fix. Maybe it is nothing yet. It is your call.

You set the pace, and you can stop at any point.

Questions worth bringing

You do not need a polished question. Any of these is a fine place to start.

  • Am I saving enough, and how would I know?
  • What happens to my family if something happens to me?
  • What should I do with a retirement account from an old job?
  • Can I retire when I want to, or do I need a different plan?
  • How do I stop guessing and start planning?
  • What should I be asking that I do not know to ask?

These are questions, not answers. What fits one family is wrong for the next, so nothing on this page is advice.

What the WMCP designation actually is

Letters after a name should mean something specific. Here is what these ones take.

  • It is issued by The American College of Financial Services.
  • It takes three courses and three proctored exams.
  • You need at least a year of real experience before you can use it.
  • You agree to the College code of ethics.
  • You keep it with at least 30 hours of continuing education every two years.

A designation is not a promise about your money. It tells you he did the work and keeps doing it.

Requirements as published by The American College of Financial Services.

What you will not find on this page

  • No returns, past or projected.
  • No rankings, awards or badges.
  • No client testimonials.
  • No products, and no advice.
  • No promise about how any of it turns out.

A page cannot tell you how your money will do. It can tell you who you would be sitting across from.

You are not behind. You just have not had the conversation yet.

Tell Walter what is on your mind. A sentence is enough.
